March Ipsy My Glam Bag Review - Flower Power

The Box: Ipsy
The Price: $10/month
The Goods: 4-5 full and deluxe-sample sized beauty products chosen based on your beauty profile.

March's theme was Flower Power.

Boo-Boo Cover-Up - Medium: ($7.65)  This is way too dark for me.  I don't think I've *ever* had enough of a tan to need a Medium shade concealer.

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Anti-Aging Mattifying Lotion: ($8.82)  I'm a big fan of Dr. Brandt and with summer coming up, I'm definitely going to be needing the mattifying.

NYX Butter Lipstick - Hunk: ($5.99)  I've been on a big lipstick kick lately so I was stoked when I saw this in my bag.  I'm not sure that the shade works with my purple hair, but I'll probably wear it anyway.

Pur~lisse Pur~Delicate: ($6.43)  Last year was the year of Pur~lisse in subscription boxes, but I haven't tried this particular product yet.  Hopefully that doesn't mean I'll get it in three more boxes. ;)

Vintage by Jessica Liebeskind Illuminating Face Highlighter - Crystal Pink: Oh, I like this.  It's too sparkly for daily use but it's really pretty for special occasions.

Total Value: Over $28.89

This month's bag wasn't quite as impressive as February's but it isn't the worst bag I've ever received.  I'm a big enough fan that Dr. Brandt that it didn't really matter what else they included.

February Ipsy My Glam Bag Review - #ipsyLove

The Box: Ipsy
The Price: $10/month
The Goods: 4-5 full and deluxe-sample sized beauty products chosen based on your beauty profile.

February's theme was "#ipsyLove"

Emite Makeup Eyelash Curler: ($25)  I've never really been a fan of lash curlers; my lashes need volume more than they need curl.  I'll still give this one a try - if nothing else, at least it's pretty. ;)

City Color Lip Stain - Flirtini: ($4.99)  I can't quite decide whether or not this shade works for my skintone.  It is a little dry, which is pretty standard for a stain, and a little goes a long way.

Eva NYC Up All Night Volumizing Spray: ($10)  The longer my hair gets, the more desperately I need volume.  I've been mostly using dry shampoo to add volume and texture, but I'm looking forward to trying a product actually meant for that purpose.

Mitchell and Peach Fine Radiance Face Oil: (~$20) I'm still a little skeptical about using oil on my face, but I tested it on my arm and it left it feeling soft and smooth.  The smell kind of reminds me of sunscreen, but it isn't overwhelming.  My biggest complaint is that it's a little hard to get out of the bottle.

Model Co Blush - Cosmopolitan: ($9.42)  I rarely remember to use blush, but I'm always surprised with how much of a difference it makes when I do.  I really like the pinky-peach color of this one.

Total Value: $69.41

This is the highest value bag I've received from Ipsy.  Again this month, none of the products were tested on animals.  I'm really hoping that this trend continues, or that they add a cruelty-free-only subscription option.

January Ipsy My Glam Bag Review - Fresh Start

The Box: Ipsy
The Price: $10/month
The Goods: 4-5 full and deluxe-sample sized beauty products chosen based on your beauty profile.

January's theme was "Fresh Start."  The bag has a cool, sort of mod look to it - it's white on one side, blue on the other, and has an orange zipper and lining.

Elizabeth Mott All Over Shadow Brush: ($9.99)  This brush is a lot larger than the shadow brushes I'm used to using.  I haven't quite made up my mind whether or not I like it.

Eco-beauty Good Day. Day Moisturizer: ($11.76)  I haven't tried this yet, but I think this is the best foil packet-type packaging I've ever seen.  More companies should start this.

Pacifica Eye Shadow - Ethereal: (~$5)  As much as I love Pacifica, I don't think I need another bronze or nude eye shadow for about 3 years.

Jouer Essential Lip Enhancer: ($7.27)  I haven't used it enough to know whether or not it conditions as well as it promises, but it does feel nice on.  I'm not crazy about the rose fragrance, though - I generally prefer mint or food scented lip products.

Bella Pierre Shimmer Powder - Whesek: ($14.99)  This picture makes it look a lot darker than it actually is.  It's actually a shimmery silver color; I think I prefer how it looks without primer, though I'm not sure how the staying power will be.

J.Cat Wonder Lip Paint - Red Potion: ($4.99)  I redeemed a few of my IpsyPoints to get this.  These always look scary dark in the tube, but it's a much more wearable color when it's on.  It is a little drying, but it's nothing that can't be fixed with a little gloss or balm.

Total Value: $49.01 (not including the Lip Paint)

My favorite item this month is actually the one I got with my points.  On the bright side, all of the products I received are from cruelty-free companies!

December Ipsy My Glam Bag Review

The Box: Ipsy
The Price: $10/month
The Goods: 4-5 full and deluxe-sample sized beauty products chosen based on your beauty profile.

December's theme was "Thinking of You."  I'm not a big fan of the bag this month.

Bumble & Bumble Repair Blow Dry: ($3.50)  I've mentioned it a million times, but I'm really low maintenance when it comes to my hair.  I blow dry my hair maybe once every other month.

Nourish Organic Eye Cream: I can't find this anywhere so I'm assuming it's a new product.  It has a nice consistency and doesn't leave a gross residue like some eye creams.

Cailyn Just Mineral Eye Polish - Orchid: ($15)  Man, this packs a lot of shimmer.  It's not extremely pigmented, but it'll probably work well over other shades.

Tarte Lights Camera Lashes ($8.33) I'm pretty much obsessed with Urban Decay Perversion mascara, but mascara is the one thing of which I can always use more.

NYX Butter Lip Balm - Parfait: ($3.99)  For a lip balm, this is really pigmented.  It also has a sweet scent that reminds me of a Lip Smacker lip balm- though I couldn't begin to guess which one.

Total Value: over $30.82

Aside from the blow dry cream, I really liked this month's selections.  Looking at the other products that they sent out, I think I really lucked out.

November Ipsy My Glam Bag Review - Girl Meets Glitter

The Box: Ipsy
The Price: $10/month
The Goods: 4-5 full and deluxe-sample sized beauty products chosen based on your beauty profile.

November's theme was Girl Meets Glitter.

Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Hairspray: ($2.99)  Oh, super.  More hairspray.

Nicole by OPI Nail Polish - Guys & Galaxies: ($6.99)  This fits the theme perfectly.  I do have a few silver glitter polishes, but this will make a nice topper on a galaxy manicure.

Clarisea Instant Glow Powder Exfoliant: ($4.50)  You mix this into your regular cleanser to turn it into an exfoliant.  I love products like this because you can control how much of a scrub you want.

Temptu S/B Highlighter - Pink Pearl: ($2.75)  This is a tiny little bottle, but a little goes a long way so it will last a while.  The color is super pretty and I like that it isn't overly sparkly.

Be A Bombshell Eye Base - Submissive: ($14)  They call this an eye base, but I wore it by itself and it creased within a couple hours.  I'll need to try it with a primer.

Total Value: $31.23

Well, I will say that this is probably the most I've ever seen my items actually relate to the month's theme.  While there isn't any one stand-out, OMGAWESOME item, I don't hate any of them.

October Ipsy My Glam Bag Review - Beauty Candy

The Box: Ipsy
The Price: $10/month
The Goods: 4-5 full and deluxe-sample sized beauty products chosen based on your beauty profile.

This month's theme is "Beauty Candy."  I'm not entirely sure that I understand that as a theme, but okay.

Figs & Rouge Shea Butter Hand Cream - Rose Berry: ($6.56)  The packaging of this is really pretty.  I'm not usually a fan of rose-based scents, so I'm going to put this in with my grandmother's birthday gifts.

Ecru New York Acacia Protein BB Cream: ($12)  I actually have a friend who is way more into hair products than I am, so I'm going to pass this on to her.  I just don't use products as much as I probably should.

Jesse's Girl Mineralized Baked Powder Eye Shadow - Plum Frost: ($3.99)  Honestly, I don't have high hopes for this.  The last Jesse's Girl product they sent me - eye liner - was a massive disappointment.

Skyn Iceland Glacial Cleansing Cloths: ($5)  I love Skyn Iceland and I'm a big fan of cleansing cloths in general, so this is easily my favorite item this month.

Starlooks Lip Gloss - Guilty Pleasure: ($3?)  I'm not sure what the actual value of this is since I can't find the size info on the full size.  It's a super cute size, though.

Total Value: $30-ish

Like I said, I have no idea where the theme comes into play.  This isn't exactly my favorite month, either.  I am happy with the Skyn wipes, however, and the hand cream will make a nice addition to my grandmother's gift, so it's not a total loss!

September Ipsy Glam Bag Review - Street Style

The Box: Ipsy
The Price: $10/month
The Goods: 4-5 full and deluxe-sample sized beauty products chosen based on your beauty profile.

September's theme is Street Style.  The makeup bag is a soft faux leather type material and I love it.  It might be my favorite one ever.

Crown Brush C476 Shadow/Crease Brush Duo: ($6.99)  I've heard good things about this line of brushes, but I really dislike the fact that it's dual-ended.  I store my brushes standing up, so this will probably become a travel-only brush to keep from ruining one end.

Pacifica Waterproof Eye Pencil - Fringe: ($2.86)  I really wish this were the black or pewter color; I feel like brown eye liner just looks odd on me.  The last thing I need is another eye liner, so I guess it works out.

Alterna Caviar CC Cream: ($8.50)  A woman I know is infatuated with this stuff.  Since it's her HG hair product, I have very high hopes for it.

Nourish Organic Moisturizing Cream Facial Cleanser: ($2.33)  Okay, I lied when I said that more eye liner was the last thing I needed.  More face wash is actually the last thing I need.  This will be swapped.

Hikari Lipstick - Cabernet: ($13)  Something about the shape of this lipstick made it really difficult for me to apply it without getting it in places I didn't want it.  The color payoff is great, but it's also great on anything your lips touch.  The staying power leaves something to be desired.

Several months ago I would have said the color was too bold for me, but I really quite like how it looks with my current hair color.  Plus, J commented that my makeup looked pretty - even though the lipstick was the only thing on my face.

I didn't even bother brushing my hair for y'all.  Rude.
 Total Value: $33.68

I was pretty happy last month so I had pretty much prepared myself to be disappointed this month.  It seems like September was the bag of "almost, but not quite" products for me.  Hopefully the CC cream will be its saving grace!
