January Barkbox Review

The Box: Barkbox
The Price: $29/month
The Goods: 4+ products for your dog, selected based on his or her size.

Thing Dog Natural Louisiana Alligator Jerky Treats: ($6.99)  I don't think Stella's ever had alligator!  These are made in the USA, wheat free, corn free, and soy free.  They're also super cute, shaped like alligator foot prints.

Loving Pets Barksters Sweet Potato & Beef Treats: ($8.99)  Stella isn't a fan of crunchy treats, so these are going into the "donate" pile.

Barkworthies Bully Stick: ($2.63)  I think this is the same thing we got last month too?  Stella hasn't even had that one yet.  She's got some crazy allergies right now so we've not been letting her get crazy with the treats and chews.

Harry Barker Cotton Rope Tug and Toss Toy: ($6)  I'm not entirely sure that Stella will play with this, but we'll see.  It's machine washable - which is always nice - and seems pretty durable.

Wigzi Pocket Bone: ($7.99)  In general, Stella refuses to play with rubber toys like Kong and such.  The idea with this is that you can stuff treats in it, but she'd probably just eat the treats and move on.

Total Value: $32.60

This was Stella's final Barkbox.  She's got such a massive pile of toys and pantry of treats that it's just silly to continue right now.  You know what I wish someone would make?  A dog-fashion box.  (Stop judging.)  Stella loves getting dressed up, so I'd totally subscribe to a box that sent out jackets, sweaters, shirts, collars, etc. for her.

December BarkBox Review

The Box: Barkbox
The Price: $29/month
The Goods: 4+ products for your dog, selected based on his or her size.

I've been putting off posting this review since Stella's been sick and she hasn't actually tried anything in the box, but by the time she's off bedrest I'll probably have forgotten about it.

Simply Fido Reindeer Toy: ($9.99)  This reindeer only an eye on one side, which I find odd.  Stella usually loves rope toys and probably won't notice the missing eye though. ;)

Barkworthies Junior Bully Stick: ($2.63)  Stella loves the Barkworthies Bully Flakes, but I don't think I've ever given her a bully stick.  She's not a big chewer, so I'm interested to see if she'll gnaw on this.

Planet Dog Chicken & Pumpkin Pot Pie Treats: ($3.32)  These are all natural and made in the USA, which is always nice to see.  Since Stella has what seems like an endless supply of treats, these were sent to J's mom's newly adopted pup.

GoDog Yeti Mooster Toy: ($8.99)  I mean, shut up.  Look at this guy.  I love him.  Uh...I mean...I'm sure sure Stella will love him.  Yeah.  That.

Bistro Bites Peanut Butter & Applesauce Treats: ($6)  These are made in the USA too!  It's nice to see Barkbox including so many US brands.

Total value: $30.93

I'm sad that Stella hasn't gotten to try out any of the new goodies yet, but once she's gotten the green light from the vet we're going to have a "recovery party."  Basically, it will be a make-up Christmas with 100% of the focus on Stella. :)

November Barkbox Review

The Box: Barkbox
The Price: $29/month
The Goods: 4+ products for your dog, selected based on his or her size.

Pet Play Zucchini Toy: ($9.50)  This toy is on the larger side for Stella, but she looks adorable running around with it.  It's also good for whacking J.  Only when he deserves it, of course.

Happy Howie's Sausages: ($2.99)  I sliced up half of one of these and mixed it into Stella's regular food for Thanksgiving.  She devoured it and was satisfied by it enough that she stopped making sad faces at everyone who was eating.  (Well, for a while, at least.)

Bocce's Bakery Truffle Mac & Cheese Biscuits: ($9.50)  We have several bags of treats open right now, so we haven't dug into this yet. Since Stella LOVES cheese, I have no doubt that she'll like these once we finally do open them.

N-Bone Pearly Whites Chew Bones: ($3.99)  Stella wasn't quite sure what to do with this when I handed it to her, but once we finally convinced her to give it a go, she really seemed to enjoy it.  It didn't make her breath any less terrible, unfortunately.

Etta Says! Crunchy Deer Chew: ($1.23) Stella got an Etta Says duck chew from Pawalla earlier this year and it was apparently the best thing I'd ever given her.  I'm hoping this one will be just as well received, so I'm saving it for Christmas.

The total value of this month was only a bit under the $29 mark.  I don't know how Barkbox finds all these toys, but they do an amazing job at finding unique ones that are absolutely adorable.

October Barkbox Review

The Box: Barkbox
The Cost: $29/month
The Goods: Treats, toys, and other goodies for your dog based on your pup's size.

Pet Qwerks Chevron Bear Plush Toy: ($6?)  How cute is this little guy?  Stella always loves getting new toys, and this one has two squeakers even though he's small, so she's super good at making noise with it.

Superior Farms Lamb Nik Knacks: ($3.19)  Stella's really picky about chews, so it took a bit of convincing, so she did chew on this one for a while.

Baker's Best Autumn Harvest: Usually Stella get's extremely stoked to try new treats, but she actually took a bit of convincing to try these.

Your Dog's Diner Mutt Meatballs: ($7.99)  Stella's birthday is later this week and I know what she's getting for her birthday dinner!  I think J and I get more excited about giving her these treats than she gets about actually getting them.

Fruitables Dog Treats Share Pack: ($2.28)  We kept these with the candy to pass out on Halloween.  We only had a couple of people bring their dogs, but they were very appreciative of the little treat packs.  Stella tried them and gave her stamp of approval, too.

I would say that it wasn't Stella's favorite box, but I'll wait for final judgement until after she's had her meatball dinner.  Of course, I'll post pictures when we give them to her!

September Barkbox Review

Barkbox sends you and your pup a variety of products - everything from toys and treats to hygiene products and gadgets for $29 a month.  When you sign up, you select the size of your dog so that they can send products right for your pet.

As usual, Stella knew the box was for her as soon as we pulled it out of our mailbox.

Stella was extremely polite and patient while I took pictures of her new goodies.  She was practically vibrating with excitement, though.

Wagatha's Organic Dog Biscuits: ($5.48)  These are wheat, corn, and soy free, and they're also organic.  Stella always gives us sad eyes whenever we have pizza, so maybe we'll give her these to satisfy her.

VetraCare Pet Liquid Bandage: ($7.99)  We treat Stella like a human child, so she rarely ever gets injured.  This is a good product to have "just in case" though.  Besides, I'm guessing J will probably use it on himself at some point.

Aussie Naturals Floppie Shark: ($7.99)  This toy is stuffing free, and has a knotted rope inside it.  It's bigger than most of Stella's toys, but since it's floppy she has no problems carrying it around.  It's apparently extra shakeable.

It also makes a stylish scarf.

Loving Pets It's Purely Natural Biscotti: ($8.39)  I'm not sure what the difference is between a dog biscuit and a dog biscotti, but Stella LOVED these.

The value of the products is pretty much on par with the monthly cost.  Of course, the monthly Christmas-like excitement for Stella is priceless.

August Barkbox Review

Barkbox sends you 4-6 goodies for your pup for $29 a month.  Your subscription is customized for your dogs size - small, medium, or large.  The box itself is super cute with this little dog cartoon along the side.

Stella knew the box was for her from the moment I pulled it out of the mailbox.

Hear Doggy Whale: ($9.99)  Supposedly, the squeaker in this is only audible to dogs.  Stella was super excited to get this.  She has a lot of toys that don't squeak, and she still enjoys those, so I'm not entirely sure if Stella can hear the squeaker.

She tried to carry him off by his tail before I even got the cardboard off of him.

The Honest Kitchen Ice Pups: ($.99)  We got one of these in a previous Pawalla box. I made it into ice cubes and Stella LOVES them.  I think I'll save this packet for when it (finally) cools down so she can try it warm.

Barkworthies Bully Flakes: ($5.25)  This is a food topper.  I sprinkled a bit on top of Stella's dry food.  She was skeptical at first, looking at me like I was crazy for acting like it was a treat, but she devoured it once she actually tried it.

Primal Pet Foods Turkey Liver Munchies Treats: ($6.99)  These have no preservatives, gluten, grain, hormones, or antibiotics.  They're for both dogs AND cats too!

Barkworthies Natural Hickory Beef Treats: ($6.30)  Holy moly do these have a strong smell.  Stella ADORES them, though.  I like that they're tiny, so they're good for training.

The value of the box is pretty much right at the $29 cost.  Though, that's not including the value of Stella's excitement - which is totally priceless, obviously.

Of course, no dog sub box post would be complete without several shots of Stella enjoying the goodies.
