October Goodies Co Review

The Box:  Goodies Co

The Price: $7

The Goods: An assortment of food and drink products.

Choco-Pie Fluffy Biscuit:  (I can't find these online.)  J had to eat this since it had gelatin in it.  He's not a fan of sweets like this, but he said it was okay.

Caffe D'Vita Enchanted Chai: ($.36)  I'm still working on convincing myself to like tea - chais seem to be the easiest to tolerate, though.  The weather's started to become chilly (finally) so I'll have this one day while I snuggle Stella.

Guylian Chocolate Truffles: ($1.09) I've had these before, and they're really tasty.  We're actually putting this little box into the pile of gifts for J's mom's birthday.

Progresso Artisan Rustic Tomato with Chicken & Dumplings:  J actually really liked this.  He said there weren't a ton of dumplings, which he was happy about, but if you're a big fan of dumplings it might not be as good for you.

Special K Nourish Cranberry Almond Hot Cereal: ($1.39)  I'm a huge fan of oatmeal on chilly days, so this is perfect for the current weather.

Happy Squeeze Greek Yogurt - Super Strawberry:  I'm going to pack this in J's lunch tomorrow.  He's neutral on yogurt but seems to like anything strawberry and likes snacks he can easily eat throughout the work day, so hopefully this will go over well.

Enjoy Life Cherry Cobbler Bar: ($1.06)  This is something else that will be packed into one of J's lunches...unless I "accidentally' eat it first.

SunRype Strawberry Watermelon Fruit Strip: I didn't really taste the watermelon in this until I looked at the wrapper and realized it wasn't just strawberry.  It tastes like your standard fruit leather.  I tried ripping it like it suggests, but wound up just biting it.

This was probably my favorite Goodies Co box, which is sad since they announced that this would be their last one.  Since Goodies Co is no more, I'll have to find another food box to subscribe to now!

September Goodies Co Review

I've been so busy between work, Breaking Bad and GTAV that I didn't realize I never posted the last of my September reviews.

Goodies Co is a Walmart owned food subscription box that's $7 a month.

Nestle Pure Life Splash - Orange: ($.37)  Flavored water is nothing new, but it's something that I like, so I certainly don't mind getting this.

Zone Perfect Bar - Greek Yogurt Chocolate: ($1.25)  I have to admit, I'm completely behind on greek yogurt trend - I haven't even tried Chobani.  There's something about the texture of most yogurt dipped bars that grosses me out, but hopefully this one won't.

Numi Organics Savory Tea - Spinach Chive: ($.67)  I'm not sure I'll ever work up the nerve to try this.  Drinking hot spinach just doesn't sound appealing.

Attiki Honey: This honey is a lot more floral than any I've ever tasted before.  I didn't dislike it, but I prefer the taste of our local honey.

Scottie Dogs Licorice: ($1.29) I'm not a fan of black licorice, but I have a friend who's obsessed so I'll give these to him.  I think it's cute that they're shaped like dogs, though.

Kashi Hummus Crisps - Sundried Tomato, Basil, and Feta: ($.69) I'd had the sea salt flavored crisps and didn't much care for them, but these were much better.  They've got a consistency similar to popped chips, and you can't taste the hummus except for a slight aftertaste.

Barefruit Apple Chips - Fuji Red: ($1.03)  J and I both like apple chips, and these were great.  They weren't chewy like a lot of chips tend to be, and they didn't taste super processed.

I'm putting Goodies Co on pause for a while.  It's not a bad subscription, but I am still on the hunt for my food-box-soulmate.

August Goodies Co

Goodies Co is a Walmart-run food subscription that is $7 a month.  They also offer a Kid's box.

Ojo Nectar: ($2.25) This is meant to help preserve your vision.  Oddly enough, this box came the day after I had an eye appointment.  I haven't tried it, yet, though.

Barnies Coffee Kitchen Pronto!: ($.99)  J and I use our Keurig for all of our coffee needs, but I'll keep this for the next time J runs out of his Hazelnut and whines about it. :)

Poplets Sea Salt & Butter: I don't understand why you'd buy a bag of semi-popped popcorn.  I guess some people must like them, but they're far too crunchy for my taste.

Tangy Zangy Twisties: These taste like the Sour Straws that I ate constantly when I was younger.  I don't know that Sour Straws are made with fruit juice, though.

Cosomi Cookie-Cracker: These little wafers are...odd.  They're sweet and salty and buttery and...odd is the only word I can come up with.  They're not bad.  Just...odd

Snyders of Hanover Garden Veggie Crisps: ($.83)  I haven't tried these yet, either, but I like chips and I like veggie straws so I see no reason why these would be bad.

While it wasn't *horrible*...this was far from my favorite Goodies Co box.  I think that if next month's box isn't rad, I'll probably ditch Goodies and try out another sub.

July Goodies Co Review

My Goodies Co box seems to have a knack for showing up on the days when our pantry is starting to look a bit barren.  This is a win/win, as it allows me to procrastinate grocery shopping a bit longer and also makes me more open to trying new things.

This month they introduced a slightly smaller box, which they say they'll use when they have smaller products to ship.  Way to be green, Goodies Co.

Fruitwater Strawberry Kiwi: ($2.25) This is from the same line as VitaminWater and SmartWater.  It contains no actual fruit juice, which is disappointing but not surprising.  It does have vitamins and is 0 calories, so it's better than regular soda, I guess.  I haven't tried it yet - I'm saving it for a day when I'm really craving a soda to see if this does the trick.

Cosmos Creations: ($.70)  These little caramel coated corn puffs are crazy addicting.  I accidentally ate this little pouch just while uploading and cropping the photos for this post.  It's made with GMO-free corn and it's delicious.  I'm probably going to order more, but I'm afraid I'd also polish one of the bigger bags off in one sitting.

Crunchmaster Multi-grain Crackers: ($.84) These crackers are too crunchy for my personal taste.  If it gives you any idea, I knocked this bag off the counter twice on accident.  Not a single one of the crackers so much as cracked.

The Better Chip Corn Chips: ($1.08)  These chips aren't bad, but I wouldn't purchase them.  You can certainly get the kale and spinach taste, but if I want kale flavored chips, I'll just make kale chips.

Gimbal's Candy Cherry Lovers: ($1.29)  These jelly beans are all different cherry flavors and they actually were made with cherry juice.  They're allergen, gluten and gelatin free...and really juicy and delicious.  Cherry cheesecake is my favorite.

So this month's box seemed to be a hit with the sweet and a miss with the salty.   Even still, $7/month is totally worth it to try out foods and brands I either had never heard of or would never have purchased on my own.

June Goodies Co Review

Goodies Co. is a food subscription box owned by Walmart.  Every month, you get 5-8 new snacks.  The best part? It's only $7.

I'll readily admit, I'm not the biggest fan of Walmart.  Give me Target or give me death.  But, my obsession with subscription boxes and the low price point won out the argument.

For some reason, fancy packaging always impresses me, so I love that they have branded tissue paper.  I don't know why it matters, I wind up recycling all of it anyway.

Lay's Stax: ($1.18) This Adobadas flavor is supposed to be a Taster's Box exclusive, but I swear I've seen them in stores.  I love them.  They taste like Mexican food. (You know...tomato, cumin, jalapeno, etc.)  They'd be SO good with queso. 

Dream Water: ($2.49) This little shot is supposed to help you relax and fall asleep.  I took half a dose of an over the counter sleep aid once and slept for 13 hours.  I'm a little nervous to drink this.

Gimme Roasted Seaweed Crumbles: ($1.92)  Blechh.  These are crispy little bits of seaweed drowning in Honey Dijon flavor.  If you like mustard, give these a shot.  I don't, so they're not for me.

Duchy Originals Highland Shortbread Biscuits: ($.99)  Shortbread cookies all taste the same to me.  There, I said it.  Chocolate chip cookies? Oh, I'm a snob.  Oatmeal raisin? Don't go there.  But if I've tasted one butter shortbread cookie, I've tasted them all.  Don't get me wrong, these were good.  Good enough for me to eat them both as a dessert to my breakfast (don't judge) but they weren't extremely unique. 

Pastitas Pasta Chips: ($1.50) These look like little churros, but they're much crunchier and less melt-in-your-mouth-y.  They taste like giant al dente pasta pieces rolled in some garlic salt with a hint of parmesan.  The seasoning is good, but the chip itself leaves sort of a funky after taste.

Pringles Stix: (~$2.89?)  I can't find these anywhere, so that's just a SWAG at the price.  These are my favorite of the box.  They're fun to nibble on and they taste similar to the sticks you get in the little snack packs with the super-ultra-processed cheese.  These already have the cheese on them, though, so it isn't as obvious how horrible they are for you.

The total value of this stuff is around $11.  I wouldn't have bought any of these things in the grocery store for myself, so this was $7 well spent in my book.  Goodies Co also has a points-for-reviews system similar to Love With Food and Birchbox.
