November Runnerbox Review

The Box: Runnerbox
The Price: $20 plus shipping bimonthly
The Goods: Gels, bars, chews and other items for runners.  They also have a gluten-free box and a box geared towards Triatheletes.

This is actually J's subscription, so I don't the actual item reviews are a bit lacking.  Waiting for him to try it all would take all month.

Active Accessories Hair Band: ($1.33)  Hey! Something I can justifiably claim as my own from this box!  There's no such thing as too many hair bands.

Get Up and Go Caffeinated Cinnamon Dolce Latte Granola: ($1.67)  Sure, this sounds tasty and all...but can we talk about how adorable their logo is?

Foot Rubz: ($5.50) J stands on his feet all day at work, so he's happy to have this.

Garuka Bar: ($3)

Clif Spiced Pumpkin Pie Bar: ($1.25) Pumpkin pie is J's favorite dessert, so he was stoked to see this in his bar.

Saltstick Caps: ($1.99)

This was J's favorite Runnerbox yet.  He's not a chocolate person, so he was pleased with the fact that there weren't any chocolate things.

September RunnerBox Review

Runnerbox is a bimonthly subscription box full of everything a runner could want.  They have Runner, Gluten-Free Runner, and Triathelete options for $20 each plus shipping.

This box is actually J's since I don't run.  It takes him a while to work through all the goodies, so I don't have many specific reviews on anything included in this subscription.

PocketFuel: ($2.75)  Chocolate Smackaroon just sounds like the name of something tasty.  The ingredients are pretty much just peanuts, chocolate, and coconut, so this fuel is Gluten-free and Vegan.

Sport Beans Protein Recovery Crisps: ($2.25) These protein bites are meant to help rebuild your muscles after your workout.  They're made by Jelly Belly, so I assume that means that they taste good.

Skin Strong Silk Dust: This anti-fungal, anti-chafing powder has great reviews by people using it in their shoes.  I'm tempted to steal a bit to use in a pair of my heels.

Balance Bar Dark: ($.54)  I actually already told J I was going to take this from him.  I have a thing for food bars, especially dark chocolate.

Body Glove Surge: ($2.39)  I was surprised to learn that gels are so expensive.  (Like I've said - I'm SO not a runner.)  Apparently they reduce fatigue, increase alertness and mental concentration, and extends endurance.  Oh, maybe I should get some energy gels for Black Friday shopping.  (Kidding! Sort of.)

Peeled Apple Clusters: ($2.19)  I've gotten these in a Conscious Box, and J actually ate those as well.  He seemed to enjoy them.

Lace Locker: ($9.95)  These help keep your shoes tied.  I can see how these would be helpful during a long run, but I can totally see parents using them on kids' shoes.

Skratch Labs Exercise Hydration Mix: ($3.90) J insists that water is disgusting, so the only way he'll drink it is if it has flavoring in it.

Puracyn Wound and Skin Care:  As accident prone as I am, wound cleaner and bandages fill the majority of our medicine cabinet.  I like that this is alcohol-free, so hopefully it won't sting too badly.

Balance Bar Gold: ($.55)  J ate this and said it tasted pretty similar to Thin Mints.  Now I'm jealous that he didn't let me taste it.

OU81: ($3.78)  I'm kind of obsessed with the brand name.  Along with the Coconut Cranberry bar, they included a coupon code for 5% off.

Bioplasma Sport: ($.99)  You can either dissolve this into water or just eat it.  The name of it kind of wigs me out.

Edible Green Tea: ($.75)  J isn't a fan of green tea, so he gave this to me immediately. I've heard this is tasty in smoothies and can't wait to try it.

Skin Strong Sunscreen Stick: ($9.99)  I love sunscreen sticks - they're so much easier to reapply when you're on the go.  This is SPF 55 and is supposed to not clog your pores.  It goes on really smoothly and doesn't feel all slimy or sticky like some sunscreens.

EcoTrek Fitness Whole Food Bar: ($2.33) This one is dark chocolate raspberry flavored, but they also make dark chocolate coconut and dark chocolate peanut butter flavors.  I'm not sure which sounds the most delicious.

If you've ever considered subscribing to an "active lifestyle" box, I totally recommend Runnerbox.  There are the obvious reasons: the box selection is awesome, and the value is always well over what you paid for it.
What really turned me into a Runnerbox fangirl (even though it isn't my box) is the fact that they have PHENOMENAL customer service.

All of the chocolate-y items we got this month melted while sitting in our mailbox all day.  I emailed Runnerbox to let them know that this might be an issue in the warmer months - not expecting much beyond the usual "Thanks for the feedback!" type reply. What I got however, was an extremely friendly and helpful reply about what they're looking into to fix the problem, plus they said that they'd send us a couple things to make up for it.  Their definition of "a couple things" turned out to actually be a box of several non-meltable goodies, a reusable Runnerbox-branded water pouch, and a little hand written note apologizing again for the inconvenience of our melted bars.  J and I were both completely blown away by how above and beyond their customer service went.

Long story short, J will be getting Runnerbox for a long, long time.

July Runnerbox Review

I don't run.  If you ever see me running, assume that someone (or something) is chasing me.  J is the exact opposite and loves to run.  So, obviously this Runnerbox is for him.  Runnerbox will ship you a box of bars, supplements, gels, and other runner-y things monthly or bi-monthly for $20 plus shipping and handling, and they also have a subscription geared towards Triathletes.

The Runnerbox box comes in a plain white USPS shipper bag.  It is a fairly small box (about half the size of Popsugar) but it is packed full of goodies - and they have branded tissue paper.  Yes, it matters.  I don't know why.

The info card is crazy long.

Pure Protein Soft Baked Protein Bar: ($1.33)  J ate this one before we went "running.*"  I took a bite of it, too, and it was surprisingly good.  This is the Double Chocolate Vanilla Crunch flavor and it doesn't have the usual protein-y aftertaste.  The box also contained a coupon for $1 off a purchase of two bars.

Hyland's Leg Cramps: ($7)  These tablets are all-natural and are supposed to relieve leg cramps and foot cramps quickly.

Ion Designs Reflective Transfers: ($10) Ion makes reflective iron on transfers for runners, kids, pets, bikers...basically anyone who might be out while it's dark.  They also take custom orders.  I checked out their site and they have a pretty good selection of designs.

Run Guard: ($3.95)  This little stick is supposed to help reduce friction and prevent chafing.  It's waterproof, sweat-proof, and all natural.  J used it before our last "run" and said that it did make a difference.

Sensible Foods Tropical Blend Crunch Dried Fruit: ($.98) These are no-sugar-added dried bits of apple, pineapple, banana and mango.  If J doesn't eat this, I may wind up topping my ice cream with it.

Sensible Foods Roasted Edamame Crunch Dried Snack: ($.98) J loves edamame, so he will probably enjoy this too.

Click Protein Espresso Drink: ($2.95) J doesn't particularly enjoy coffee or chocolate, and since this is the Mocha flavor, I'll probably be the one who gets to sample this.

ShowerPill: ($.99) They call this a "hygiene supplement" but I'm not entirely sure how it differs from a baby wipe.  Maybe it's just a baby wipe that a grown man can feel better using?  I don't know, but I can see how these would be handy.

Honey Stinger Energy Bar: ($1.69) As you may have noticed, I have a thing with protein/granola/energy/whatever bars.  I also love peanut butter and honey.  I'll let J eat it, of course, since he'd actually benefit from it, but I'll have to steal a bite whenever he does.

Island Boost:  ($3)  I know nothing about this type of product, but I know J went through a ton of gels and gummies and things when he was in marathon-mode, so he'll certainly use this.

ProBar Bolt: ($2.69)  Apparently J has tried a different ProBar product in the past, but hasn't tried this one.  These are organic and full of all the good things that you're apparently supposed to eat while you're running.

Lenny & Larry's Muscle Brownie: ($2.08)  If this tastes anywhere near as delicious as the package makes it look, this thing will rock.

Kind Bar: ($1.99)  Hello, lover.  Dark chocolate and sea salt? Don't mind if I do.  This little guy (and the other chocolatey treats) got a bit melty in transit.  Sending out so many chocolate items to Texas in July probably wasn't the best idea.  It'll still get eaten, though.

Nuun: ($.49/ea)  You drop these little tablets into your water and they add electrolytes and flavor without sugar or carbs.

No Opportunity Wasted Newton: ($2.13) For some reason, this honey newton bar looks delicious.  There's no chocolate to be seen, but I want it.

I paid $25.70 including shipping and we got over $40 of products.  Even though it's geared towards runners, I think if you're into fitness at all and you want to try new things, this box is pretty awesome.

*Like I said, I don't run.  When J and I go run, it's really just a fast walk with me jogging short distances whenever his nagging gets to me.
