Bonjour Jolie Summer Blowout Mystery Box Review

The Box: Bonjour Jolie's Mystery Box (no longer available)
The Cost: $15 + $5 shipping
The Goods: 5+ teas, 10+ sweets, 5+ pampering items, and 2 mystery gifts.

Oatfield Chocolate Orange Candies: ($.72/ea)  These Irish hard candies have an orange shell with a chocolate center.  They're good, though I wish the chocolate centers were just a bit larger.  Each candy in the roll has its own little wrapper, which is nice.

Craisins Pomegranate: ($.66)  I've only ever had the regular Craisins, but I think I like these better!

Swiss Miss with Marshmallows: ($.11)  We go through a lot of hot cocoa at our house.  I think J actually used this right after I unpacked it.

Bewley's Irish Breakfast Tea: ($.57)  I'm not a massive fan of hot tea, but I've developed quite the collection.  I should probably sort through it all and either give it a go or give it away.

Good Earth Teas: ($.75)  Okay, you know what I *just* said about not liking hot teas?  Yeah, if there were ever flavors that could change my  mind about that...it might be one of these three.

Stash Mango Passionfruit Herbal Tea: ($.25)  I've already given this to my grandmother since she avoids caffeine.  I should check back and find out what she thought about it.

Teashop Premium Blend:  I can't seem to find anything about this brand.  It's certainly the least pretty tea that they included, but I know you can't judge a book by its cover.

Oatfield Irish Butter Toffee:  Soooo good.  The only downside to these is that they quite chewy and not for the faint of jaw.

Oatfield Chocolate Peppermint: ($.59)  These are kind of similar to the orange chocolates.  The peppermint is refreshing without being extremely overwhelming, and the chocolate is subtle.

Goezte's Mini Cow Tales: ($.36) I love Cow Tales. If you've never had one, they're basically caramel ropes with cream in the middle.

Bewley's Cafe Biscuits: ($0.43)  These are sort of similar to a graham cracker but...better.  They're light and just...tasty.

Goetze's Caramel Creams: ($.56)  I'm pretty sure these are the same thing as Cow Tails but bigger.

Adam's Chiclets: ($.10/ea) I used to love the tiny Chiclets when I was a kid, but I'm not sure I'd ever had the mint ones until now.

Charleston Chews: ($.25/ea) I ADORE Charleston Chews, but I never really think about them unless I happen upon them - usually while perusing CVS.

Radical Works Soap Samples: ($5)  All of these scents are actually nice.  Cola is probably the most unique scent, but Sweet Lemon is my favorite.

Dickinson's Witch Hazel On the Go Towelettes: ($.44)  J and I occasionally go hiking and geocaching, which involves me slathering on sunscreen and bug spray and then getting hot and sweaty.  These will be great to clean my face of all that grossness afterwards.

Basic Earth Botanicals Massage Bar Soap: ($.31) I know I've used this at a hotel before, but I can't remember which one.  It's not the fanciest soap, I do like the massage aspect.

Tulip Body Lotion: ($.25) This lotion is a bit too strong for me, but J likes it for some reason.  He's already stolen one of the little tubes for himself.

Blarney Stone Farm Castile Soap: ($2) This soap has no added perfumes, but it actually smells delicious!

Cotton Candy Bath Salts: ($1) It actually smells just like cotton candy.  I kind of feel obligated to use this while drinking some sort of frou frou girly drink and reading chick lit. :)

Silver Shamrock Bracelet: ($14) It's not something I'd wear every day, but maybe it will make a cute accessory for St. Patrick's Day.

Bronze Key Necklace: ($10)  I have a thing for keys, so this necklace is a total win.

Total Value: ~$40

Well, it took me a while to get this review up but...better late than never, right?  I think they do these mystery box sales once or twice a year.  Most, if not all, of these were sent out in previous Bonjour Jolie boxes.  It kind of makes me miss my subscription!

September Bonjour Jolie Review

Bonjour Jolie is a subscription box designed to help you "pamper your period."  They send you your monthly feminine hygiene products, gifts, edibles, and pampering products.

I was stoked that September's theme was Go Vegan!

SerendipiTea: ($3.50)   Ruby Slipper, Once Upon a Tea...the names of these teas are so cute.  The pouch in the middle is a reusable pouch for steeping.

Desiderio Chocolates Gourmellow: ($2.50)  Since going vegetarian, I haven't missed meat that much thanks to Morningstar Farms and the like.  I HAVE, however, missed marshmallows. (Random, right?)  This bar was OMGdelicious.  It's like a chocolate covered marshmallow and a chocolate truffle had a love child.

Always Radiant Feminine Wipes: ($.32)

Puur Body Lip Balm - Sweet Vanilla: ($3.50) I just clicked around their etsy shop and I think I might have to place an order.  They have some awesome sounding scents and flavors - from Kentucky Bourbon to Pumpkin Pie.

Sunny Day Botanicals Lotion - Pomegranate: Their shop doesn't seem to be available - I'm not sure if it's just temporary or what.  This lotion smells delicious though.

Just U Relax Bath Tea: ($2) I hate companies who use "U" for you.  It's almost as bad as ending words with Z instead of S.  That said, I've never used a bath tea so I look forward to trying it.

Just Pure Minerals Bronzer - Glow: ($1)  This is a really tiny sample, but mineral cosmetics tend to last a super long time.  It's a really pretty peachy color that would probably work as an eyeshadow as well.

Personalized Silver Necklace: ($16)  I'm took the colored bead off of my necklace and now I love it.  It's really delicate and doesn't look like cheap jewelry.

Not pictured: my monthly products and Advil.

Even though Bonjour Jolie is a "time of the month" box, I think I most look forward to the food items that they pick out every month.  I don't know how they find such tasty goodies, but they nail it every month.

August Bonjour Jolie Review

Bonjour Jolie is a Time-of-the-Month box that sends you your monthly feminine supplies plus extras to pamper yourself and make your period a little less horrible.  It's $16 a month plus shipping and they also offer a Teen box.  Their customer service is AMAZING, too.  Any time I have emailed them, I've gotten a response within hours.

August's theme was "Honoring the Feminine." All of the items (aside from the feminine care products) are from women-owned businesses.

Feminine Supplies:  (~$6.94)  You can choose whether you want pads, liners, pads or some combination of those three. Plus, you get to choose what brands you prefer.  If you decide you want to change your selection, just email them and they'll make sure you get what you want in your next box.

Advil: ($.50)  When you sign up, you choose whether or not you want Advil in your box.

Scensibles Bag: ($.50) First of all, this blurry photo is annoying me - but not quite enough to go retake it.  This is one of those products I never would have thought of, but it makes sense.  They're little lightly scented bags for you to use to dispose of your feminine care products.

Happy Hands Hand Cream: ($.99)  This is a really nice hand cream that soaks in well and doesn't feel super greasy.  The cinnabun scent makes me wish cooler weather would just hurry up and get here, though.

Barefoot Apothecary Bath Salts: ($1.09) I haven't used these yet, but I adore bath salts, so I'll use these the next day I have time for a soak.

Beazers Garden Sugar Body Scrub: ($1.75) It seems like it's impossible for a scrub to make its way to me without leaking everywhere. It smells nice though!

Scaredy Cat Mineral Eyeshadow: ($1) This color, Love Stinks, is a really pretty, soft, frosty, pale pink.  I'm impressed by how pigmented it is and LOVE that their products are cruelty free.

Just Add Honey Teas: (~$3.50)  Chocolate Delight? Georgia Peaches? Hey, these might be teas that I actually like!  I really like that they have caffeine labels and steep times on each label - perfect for a tea noob like me.

Leccare Lollipops: ($2) Ohmygod.  This peach cobbler lollipop is SO good.  It tastes just like peaches and cinnamon and nutmeg and the only thing that's missing is ice cream.  Now I feel the need to make cobbler.  Oh, and I'm sure the apples & honey will be good too. ;)

Silver and Stone Bracelet: ($14) This green and silver bracelet is imported from Peru, where it was made by local women.  It's not my style, but it is pretty and well made

To be honest, I tend to forget that Bonjour Jolie is a TOM box and not just a women's box.  The variety of things they send is awesome.  Having my supplies delivered is just an added bonus for a hermit like myself.

July Bonjour Jolie Review

I've been debating getting a TOM box for months now.  I finally settled on giving Bonjour Jolie a go.  They send you your feminine products (pads, liners and/or tampons in your brand of choice) along with teas, goodies and products to pamper your period for $16 a month plus shipping.  They also ship based on your cycle, so you know you'll be covered in time.

This month had the theme of Independence.

The packing was so cute.  Everything was packed in these little purple satchels and there were faux rose petals in the box as well.

Advil: ($.50)  You can select whether or not you want them to send you Advil.  Packets like these are always handy to have in your first aid kit or purse.

Bonny Bubbles Silky Body Powder: ($.67)  This is lightly scented, deodorant body powder.  I've never used anything like this, but I am glad to have the chance to.

Fleury Girls Body Lotion: ($.75) I love water scents, so I really like By the Sea,  The little pouch this came in is super cute, too.

Spa Girl Bath Bomb: ($.66) J takes far more baths than I do, so I handed this off to him.

CrochetHappyMommyof3 Facial Scrubby: ($.10) This little crochet circle is meant to be a face exfoliater and makeup remover.  I usually use my Olay Cleansing Brush to wash my face, but I'll use this to remove eye makeup.

Toot Sweet Salted Honey Caramels: ($1.48)  They got a bit soft while sitting in my mailbox, but that didn't stop me from eating one immediately.  Holy cow these suckers are good.  You can really taste the honey in them.  I might have to order some of their dark chocolate caramels once the seller comes back from vacation.

Bigelow Teas: ($1) I don't drink hot tea much, but it's nice that they sent a good variety.  Maybe I'll find one that will turn me into a tea drinker.

Chiffon Sarong: ($16) This sarong is very pretty, but I'm not much of a sarong person.  I think I can find a use for this, though.

The feminine supplies: (~$6) Obviously, since you request the brand and type of protection you want, the price varies.  You can request different ones each month, if your needs change or if you just want to try out other brands.

The total value of the box is over the subscription cost, which is always nice.  I like that they include indie brands that I wouldn't have gotten to try otherwise.  Honestly, the caramels alone make this box worth it to me.  It took every ounce of restraint I have not to eat all four in one sitting.  Besides, anything that makes my period any less sucky is a win in my book.
