No Spend October! (Well, Almost...)

Confession: I go a little overboard on buying Christmas gifts.  Giving people presents is pretty much the only thing I enjoy about holidays.  I also have a tendency to buy *myself* Christmas gifts while I'm out shopping for others, but we won't talk about that.

Kristen's Wallet-Watch post over at See You in a Porridge inspired me.  To prepare for my Christmas spending, I'm putting myself on a no-buy for October.  Sort of.  Here are my rules:

1.  No new video games.
2.  No going out for things I can easily make at home.  (Sorry, Starbucks.)
3.  No clothes.  Or makeup.  Or subscription boxes.  Yes, really.
4.  No buying things "just because they're on sale."
5.  No buying stuff "just because" for J.  He will live without that random pair of pajama pants from Target.

However, I am giving myself a loophole.  I *can* spend the money I make from selling stuff online this month.  Yeah, it's a bit of a cheat, but I emptied my Paypal account at the start of the month to start from scratch. The main reason I'm allowing myself this is that I'm hoping it will actually encourage me to get off my lazy butt and put more stuff up on ebay.

Hopefully this goes well and I'll be inspired to do it again in January to recover from Christmas!

(Yeah, I'm a little late on posting this...but I've been good the past week.  Promise!)
