Goodebox Summer Clearance Box Review

The Box: Goodebox Summer Clearance Box (no longer available)
The Cost: $24
The Goods: 12 items from previous Goodeboxes - with at least one full sized item.

Let me just say that this box smelled absolutely amazing - even before I opened it!

Pact Cream Waffle Knit Socks: ($6)  These are super stretchy and will be perfect for wearing with my combat boots once the stupid weather finally cools down again.

Tallulah Jane Aiyana Eau De Parfum: ($1.58)  This has notes of rose, vanilla, and lemon.  I'm not a fan of this scent. Something about it, with my body chemistry, smells sort of...dusty?

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular CC Cream - Natural Glow: ($3.90)  I've received this previously from Popsugar.  I liked it then and I like it now.  I got lucky and actually got the shade that works for me!

Sumbody Let My Muscles Go Bath Salts: Oh man...I recently started running again and my muscles will be SO grateful for a soak with these.

Seventh Generation Boosts - Hydrating:  I honestly had no idea Seventh Generation made anything other than household products!  This stuff smells amazing.  I was expecting it to be a little thicker in consistency, but it did take away the tightness I was feeling in my face.

PND Botanicals Whisper Body Spray - Natural: I'm surprised, but I actually like this.  It's got notes of sage, grapefruit, ylang ylang, and rose.  The name totally fits.  It makes me want to go sit a botanical garden or something.

PND Botanicals Polished Sugar Scrub - Diva: Hm...I'm undecided about this scent.  Its notes are Ambrette, sandalwood, and vanilla.  The scent is really subtle in this scrub, though.

Revolution Organics Lip Gloss - Innocent: ($10.40)  I'm a little disappointed that this gloss doesn't have a nice scent Juice Beauty's glosses.  That said, it's really soft and not at all sticky.  There isn't much color in this shade, just a nice subtle shine.

La Fresh Nail Polish Remover Wipes: ($1.09) I really like La Fresh and these nail polish remover wipes are the best for traveling.

Balanced Guru No Frizz Oil: ($13) FabFitFun actually sent this same product.  Though I like it, I don't have enough frizz problems to burn through both bottles so this will get swapped.

Softcup: ($2.50)  So, I have known a couple girls who were firm believers in Softcups. However...now that I have one in front of me, they're a little intimidating.

Garden of Life Raw Protein - Vanilla Spiced Chai: ($.96)  I haven't tried this yet, but the flavor sounds promising!

Total Value:  Over $40

I can't get an accurate value since a lot of these samples don't have marked sizes.  I'm pretty happy with what I received.  There were only a couple items I had tried previously and several items from brands that I hadn't actually heard of before.  Plus, as with all Goodeboxes, all the items are natural and (I'm pretty sure) cruelty-free.

August Loot Crate Review - Heroes

The Box: Loot Crate
The Price: $13.37 plus shipping
The Goods: 6-8 items perfect for a geek or gamer with a total value of $40+.

August's theme was Heroes.  They did another custom box this month and it's pretty rad.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Glasses - Donatello: ($9.99)  J has a thing for ridiculous sunglasses, and these fit the bill.  Donatello is his favorite of the TMNTs, so these were a win.

TMNT Ooze Action Mini Figure - Michelangelo: ($9.99)  Obviously J probably would have preferred Donatello, but he's enough of a fan of TMNT in general that he didn't mind getting Michelangelo.

Shwings Lightning Bolts: ($8.95) I love these so much.  Luckily, J said that I could have them, so they'll be adorning my Chucks soon.

Mega Man Air Freshener: ($4.43)  J has already hung this up in his car.  I really need to find a new, cool air freshener for myself.

ChimichangOs Magnet: The side of our fridge is starting to run out of space for all the magnets we keep getting.  I might have to come up with some sort of display thing to make for J's mancave.

Pop! Guardians of the Galaxy - Loot Crate Exclusive Groot: ($10.99)  I am Groot.  I AM Gr...uh, I mean...Groot is my favorite of the Guardians so I was SUPER excited when I heard that he was going to be the exclusive this month.  I love him.  Love.  Him.

Total Value: $44.35

This month also came with some digital items, but J apparently took it out of the box and lost it before giving me his Loot Crate to take these pictures.  Listen.  I'm obsessed with Groot, so even if J had hated everything this month it wouldn't have mattered to me one bit!

August Nadine West Review

The Box: Nadine West
The Cost: No upfront cost, prices vary per item.
The Goods:  They send you a few jewelry and/or tops and you decide which, if any, to keep and then return the rest.

"Sweet Love in Silver" Bracelet: ($9.99)  I'm so glad that they've sent me silver jewelry for a change!  Bangle style bracelets drive me nuts.  Add a charm to the mix and it is sure to drive me insane. Returned

I was kind of surprised that it fit me.  Usually bangles look massive on my wrist.

Wrapped in Sparkles Earrings: ($9.99) I have several piercings in my ears so I prefer studs small enough that they don't interfere with each other.  If these had been just a little bit smaller, they would have been a keeper. Returned

Delicate Diamond Necklace: ($14.99)  I went back and forth on this one before finally asking J's opinion.  His first question was "Why are you wearing the letter V?" so...that kind of killed it.  Returned

Story Line Native Print Tank: ($14.89) This tank had mesh panels under the arms and up the back, which I thought was pretty cool.  Unfortunately, it had a very odd fit.  It was too tight across my bust - a problem I very rarely have! Returned

Well...I didn't keep anything yet again.  I do feel like they listened to my feedback - the necklace is much simpler and the jewelry is all silver.  I accidentally forgot to include my feedback sheet when sending this one back, but I might email them.  I'll probably give them another month or so before stopping my shipments altogether.

Manicure of the Week - Masked Disco

I've had a super bad case of the blahs lately and I have a tendency to channel my feelings into my manicures.  The obvious choice was black nail polish, but I added a sort of "light at the end of the tunnel" to it as well.

I love how glitter placement manicures look, but I've always been too lazy to try one myself.  I went with the "shove your nail in a pile of glitter and see what sticks" method instead.  It's so sparkly, I can't stop looking at my nails.  It makes me think of a disco ball.

The black is Orly Masked Ceremony.  For my ring finger, I used China Glaze Platinum Silver and then dipped my finger in loose chunky glitter.

August Ipsy Glam Bag Review - Beauty Schooled

The Box: Ipsy
The Price: $10/month
The Goods: 4-5 full and deluxe-sample sized beauty products chosen based on your beauty profile.

August's theme was "Beauty Schooled."  The bag is not my favorite ever, but it is cute.

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara: ($5.50)  This mascara has been *everywhere* since it was announced, so I was super excited to try it.  I didn't think it was as life-changing as they were promoting it to be, but I'd definitely consider buying the full size.  It didn't flake all day and it's also fairly easy to remove.

Here's my before and after with two coats.

Klorane Dry Shampoo - Extra Gentle with Oat Milk: ($8.99)  I wash my hair only 2-3 times a week, so dry shampoo is a staple item for me.  This one didn't absorb oils as well as Batiste, but it is the "extra gentle" version so that's probably to be expected.  The scent is pleasant and not nearly as strong as most dry shampoos.

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner: ($11.25)  I was a little worried when I saw that this had a tint to it but there wasn't a noticeable color when I put it on.  I haven't tried it under foundation yet but even alone it did make my pores look much smaller and my skin much smoother.

Jersey Shore Sun Mongongo Lip Balm - Orange: ($5.50)  This lip balm smells delicious.  It's kind of unremarkable other than that though.

J. Cat Flying Solo Eye Shadow - Half Naked: ($2.99) I have way more neutral eye shadows than I could ever use so I've actually already passed this on to a friend.

Total Value: $34.23

I'm actually pretty happy with my selection this month.  With the exception of the eye shadow, I will use everything I received.  I'm also stoked to see that it looks like none of these companies test their products on animals!

August Popsugar Must Have Review

The Cost: $39.95/month
The Goods: Hand-picked food, fashion, beauty, home, and/or fitness items.

Kendra Scott Elle Earrings - Slate: ($52)  Apparently both silver and gold versions were sent out - I'm happy I got the silver version!  I don't usually wear large earrings, but these are simple enough for statement earrings that I might actually wear them.

Lollia At Last Perfumed Shower Gel- No. 17: ($22) Floral scents aren't my thing, so I'm really not that fond of this.  It'll go into my "to-be-traded/gifted" stash.

Goodbyn Small Meal + Dipper Set: ($8)  This set comes with a small container inside for dips.  As soon as the weather cools off, this will totally get used as part of a picnic.

Paddywax Ocean Tide & Sea Salt Mini Jar Candle: ($10) LOVE.  Water scents are my favorite. This candle totally makes me want to visit the coast.

Mason Jar Cookie Company Celebrate! Mix: ($12.99)  I'm pretty much strictly a bake-from-scratch girl.  That said, one of my girl friends is in town for the weekend so I might break my habits to try this out with her.

Bite Beauty Lipgloss - Popsugar: ($22)  The shade is custom made for Popsugar.  This gloss is a little sticky, but not so much that I find it unwearable.  The flavor is VERY strong, though, so I certainly wouldn't wear this when eating or drinking anything.

ThinkThin High Protein Bar - Brownie Crunch: ($1.99)  This is a "Special Extra" item.  ThinkThin bars are not terrible, but I still prefer Luna Bars.

Total Value: $126.99

I like this month better than last month's but I'm pretty neutral about it overall.  I adore the candle, but my feelings about all the other items are pretty much just..."meh."
